Signposts [Soon to be Writing Yorkshire]
Signposts Writing Project works with new and established writers across
South Yorkshire.
Their mission is to inform, inspire and energise writers and writing. They work with new and experienced writers to explore uniqueness, identity, diversity and society so that we know and understand each other better. Signposts is based in Sheffield but works across South Yorkshire. They run regular Writers Resource Centres in Sheffield, Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham providing information on all aspects of creative writing. They also run regular workshops, including writing groups for young people in each of the four boroughs.

Doncaster Open Mic Event
D.O.M.E. is an open Mic literature event held at The Leopard venue in Doncaster.
What: The aim of the session is to help people express themselves, to share our delights and frustrations of the world, to help writers network and most of all to have fun. Anyone can attend and anyone can read their writings. There will be a wide range of genres performed together with a wide range of attitudes expressed.
When: The last Friday of every month at 7:30 pm – 10.00 pm. *please phone to confirm before setting out.

The Shipping Forecast - Sheffield
The Shipping Forecast poetical cabaret is based at the Shakespeare pub 146- 48 Gilbralter Street Sheffield.
Tickets are £3 per session and each session is hosted by Stan Skinny and Gevi. The StoryForge @ The Fat Cat - Sheffield
When: The Third Tuesday of every month from 8:00pm
Where: The Fat Cat Pub, Alma Street, Kelham Island, Sheffield
What: The Story Forge is an open mic Storytelling club based around tales from the floor with guest spots every other month. Folk tales, urban myths, riddles, the odd song and poem.
Who: Tim Ralphs, David Hague, You and, on alternate months, whoever we've booked from the cream of UK Storytelling to be our special guest.
Cost: £3 donation on non-guest nights + £4 - £5 on guest nights.

‘Spire Writes’ is a live literature night in Chesterfield, bringing some of our best contemporary poets and performers to the foot of the wonky spire. Each event features a different guest reader as well as plenty of open mic slots.
Where: The performances take place in the back room of Havana Whites on Corporation Street, Chesterfield. If you’re coming from Sheffield, it’s handily right by the train station and the events will finish in time for you to jump on the last train!
Everyone’s welcome, whether you’re a performer, writer, lover of words or just curious to see what it’s all about.
